We Can Still Know, Without The Snow

One of my favorite verses in the entire Bible is Romans 1:20 that says, "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."

In that one verse, we learn that God cares for us so deeply that He has revealed Himself not only through His Word as found in the Holy Bible, but through His creation, or in such a way that transcends any kind of cultural and language barriers.

In addition, Psalm 74:17 points out that, "Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter." Of course, working at Pioneer reminds me of these truths day-in-and-day-out.

However, one thing we've all noticed lately is the absence of snow. Can you remember a winter here in Western New York that gave us more blue skies and sunny days than snowy ones? I certainly can't!

Back to Romans 1:20. That verse tells us that God reveals Himself through His creation. In thinking about that truth in relation to the seasons, I'm reminded of how God uses winter (and snow) to show us the contrast between the coldness of sin and the peace, purity, redemption, righteousness, and salvation that only Christ provides (the color white).

Yes, even without the snow, we can still know about God's redemptive plan for us by not only prayerfully considering the warmth of Jesus (symbolized by the spring) as a direct answer to the coldness of the world (symbolized by the winter), but by also visiting a place like Pioneer where we regularly show the face of Jesus to all - by words and actions - amidst the splendor of God's creation.

Here, amidst that splendor of God's creation, we are constantly reminded that even though it's cold outside, there's always a warm place in the Son. I want to remind you of that truth today because it's likely that you're going through something in life right now that is testing your faith.

Whatever the circumstances, regardless of your current situation, despite all the chaos and uncertainty, please remember that God is in complete and total control.

Rest in Him and rest on His promises.
