We've all been to Walmart at one time or another right? I am there more often than I care to admit, but I had a great "camp moment" there a few months ago.
As I pulled up to the checkout I was surprised when my cashier thanked me for the "greatest summer of her life". I didn't understand at first and then realized I was wearing my Pioneer t-shirt!
She had spent one week at Pioneer as a gift from her church for her Confirmation. She told me about how warm the water was, the secrets she and the girls in her cabin shared, devotions and songs at the campfire and about how even now (at 60 years old) she still counts that week as one of the best experiences she has ever had.
Everywhere you go you will find people who remember attending a life changing week of Confirmand Camp at Pioneer. While many things have changed in our world and in our church, Confirmand Camp is still one of those unforgettable experiences for youth today. It's not your parents Confirmand Camp...and yet it is!
We are excited to continue this special tradition while also meeting the needs of a new generation of Lutheran youth. We have updated curriculum, new activities, and a great new schedule but the opportunities to meet other Christian youth and to engage in faith and in fun is the same as it's always been.
This year we are so excited to be offering three weeks of Confirmand Camp. Each week is different in leadership, in style, and in those served, but each week is the same in the underlying experience of God's love and in the lifelong memories that will be created.
Do you know youth in your church who are undergoing or who have just completed confirmation instruction? Do you have children or grandchildren who are in that category?
Won't you encourage them and their families and churches to consider joining us for one of these incredible weeks?
God had blessed so many over the years through the tradition of Confirmand Camp at Pioneer. We are excited to continue this great tradition.
