Greetings from Pioneer where "A warm place in the Son" is not far off this winter.
Wow, what an odd winter it has been for most of us. Warmer weather and a lack of snow leave some of our normal winter activities in question. All fall I was looking forward to hiking on Lake Erie. Not something I would recommend right now.
I just returned from a visit to Albany and the Capital Region Circuits of the Atlantic District. I really enjoy visiting pastors and congregations and seeing familiar faces and hearing stories of ministry and how God is working and blessing them. I also enjoy meeting so many that are alumni of Pioneer, either campers or counselors.
I am still amazed that it seems wherever I go, Albany, Ohio, all over Western NY and Pennsylvania, and even at the local hardware store, I find people that have been to Pioneer. It is exciting to see so many and to hear their stories from decades ago or from last summer. Ask around in your local congregation or your circle of friends, you may be surprised how many have stayed in Schroeter Circle, Outer Space, or a Woodland Cottage.
As the winter months continue to go by and the thoughts of spring and summer start to grow, make plans to come out and visit us at Pioneer. I can guarantee that whether you were here last year or decades ago, there are exciting changes and things happening at your Camp. And I am sure that you will recognize old friends and make new ones.
Our new Summer Brochures are being mailed out, and in it, you will see some familiar camps and some new camps. If you have any questions about the changes, please give us a call. Leah and Chris are working very hard in putting together all the different programs for this summer. I hope to see you all in 2012 and to hear your stories and to see how God continues to work in and through you.
